What the Army APFT Score Calculator helps you understand

Repeat measurements under similar conditions for a more useful trend.

This APFT Score Calculator provides the legacy scoring tables from the Army Physical Fitness Test organized by age group and gender. The APFT's three-event structure meant that soldiers could earn a maximum of 100 points per event through two minutes of push-ups, two minutes of sit-ups, and a timed 2-mile run. The scoring tables were extensively age-adjusted — a 25-year-old male needed 75 push-ups for a maximum 100 points, while a 42-year-old male needed only 66. This age adjustment recognized natural fitness decline while maintaining a meaningful standard. This calculator remains useful for soldiers who want to track their push-up, sit-up, and run performance against a historical standard they may be familiar with from earlier in their career.

Are APFT scores still tracked anywhere?+

APFT scores are no longer required for official records, but individual soldiers may track them personally. Some ROTC programs and pre-commissioning courses may still reference APFT standards during training.

How do APFT and ACFT standards compare?+

The ACFT is a fundamentally different test. APFT push-ups and ACFT hand-release push-ups use different techniques. The APFT sit-up was replaced by the plank. The 2-mile run is the only event that is directly comparable between the two tests.

What was considered a good APFT score?+

A score of 270+ (90+ per event) was considered excellent. A 300 was the maximum and earned an APFT badge. Scores above 250 were competitive for promotion boards during the APFT era.

Can I still earn an APFT badge?+

The APFT badge (physical fitness badge) was awarded for scoring 270+ with 90+ in each event. Since the APFT is no longer the record test, new APFT badges are not awarded, though previously earned badges remain valid.
