What the Army PT Test Calculator helps you understand

Repeat measurements under similar conditions for a more useful trend.

The Army PT Test Calculator is a practical training companion for soldiers preparing for their next ACFT record test. Beyond simple scoring, this tool helps identify training priorities by showing which events offer the most room for point improvement. Physical training plans are most effective when they target the weakest events rather than reinforcing already-strong areas. For example, a soldier scoring 95 on the deadlift but 65 on the plank should devote more core training time rather than more deadlift work. This calculator also helps soldiers set incremental goals — targeting a 5-point improvement per event rather than an intimidating 30-point total improvement makes progress feel more achievable.

What is the current Army PT test?+

The current Army record fitness test is the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT), which consists of six events: deadlift, standing power throw, hand-release push-ups, sprint-drag-carry, plank, and two-mile run.

How should I prioritize training for the ACFT?+

Focus on events where you score closest to the 60-point minimum or where you have the most room for improvement. Improving from 65 to 80 in a weak event is easier than improving from 90 to 100 in a strong one.

How much rest is there between ACFT events?+

The ACFT prescribes specific rest periods between events: at least 2 minutes between events within a lane, and events must be completed in order. The overall test window is typically 40-60 minutes per soldier.

Can I take the ACFT more than twice a year?+

Yes, commanders can authorize additional record tests, and diagnostic (practice) ACFTs can be taken as frequently as needed. Only record ACFTs count for official purposes.
